Scottish strokeplay championship 2009
Youth triumphed again again - this time the amazing 14 year old twins from NI, Leona and Lisa Maguire who ended up 1st [69 77 73] and joint 3rd in the Helen Home at Royal Troon, 22 - 24 April. !8 year old Kelsey McDonald [Nairn Dunbar] was second [75 72 74]. Ayrshire champion Lesley Hendrie made the cut for the final day, but started badly in torrential rain; she came back in par to finish well up the field. A remarkable 25% of the entrants from an 8 European country entry, were under 18 and the young Ayrshire girls squad were thrilled to carry the scoreboards and see the stunning sub par golf played by the [pro] stars of tomorrow at such close range on the final day. They know what they have to do now!
